Although we conduct business online; that does not mean that all of your marketing efforts should be limited to the internet. When you conduct most of your business activities, socialize and keep in touch with your friends and family online, it is easy to forget that there is a world that exists outside of your computer as well. Everyday more people are turning to the internet to make money so we will need other ways of finding customers as competition grows. No matter where you are you have an opportunity to market your site. All it takes is for you to make them aware. Here are a few tips to help you market your online business to offline clients.
Offline Marketing Tip: stoepborden
Everyone has, at one time or another, browsed the classified ads of their newspaper. There are many online classified sites, the most popular is probably Craigslist. Have you thought about taking out an ad with your local newspaper? The fact is, if you write a good ad, you can get a lot more (offline) “traffic” to your ad than a comparable online ad would receive. Of course, there is a charge to advertise in a newspaper, but does this really matter if it results in lots of sales? Remember, even people who don’t have computers read through classified ads sections and these people do have ways to buy your products through computers in cyber cafes or at the library!
You can also place regular display advertisements in newspapers, another powerful offline marketing method. Browse through a newspaper and look at some of the small display ads; where might you place one of your own? A small ad that is only a few inches square shouldn’t cost you too much money. If you run it in the section that most closely resembles your targeted niche you could reach thousands of new clients that might not have found your website otherwise. If you want to test the performance of your ad you could also offer customers who found your ad in the newspaper a special coupon. You want your ads to be noticed, so you should have attractive and catchy graphics in your ads!
A pen is also good for placing ads. You can easily find a company that specializes in printing customized items to design the pens for you. Once you start distributing them you will quickly find out how easy they are to get rid of. Use it when you write a check or sign a credit card slip at the grocery store and then “forget” to put it back in your bag. Leave a few at the bank or at ATMs and customer service counters. Your public library is another good spot; don’t be afraid to walk up to someone and hand it to them. Free pens are well received.
Offline marketing goes a lot deeper than this. There are literally an infinite amount of ways to market offline. With a little creativity, you can market your business to anybody! There are people out there that don’t use computers to search but if you can get your URL in front of them with something interesting then even they will find their way to your site. There are so many potential clients out there that the market for your products and services is almost unlimited. Finding new traffic sources is one of the main components to consistent growth. Do you think that the million dollar marketer use only online methods?
