Diving in Florida: Key Largo
If you have been scuba diving for a number of years you will recognize that one place well acknowledged for diving is the “Florida Keys”. It is on “The Keys” that you will locate Key Largo recognized for many years as “The Scuba Diving Capital of the World”.Once you see the huge range of different dive sites and locations to survey it is no wonder Key Largo is so well thought of. For instance, if you take a trip to Key Largo scuba diving you will discover that there are caves, coral reefs and shipwrecks to survey.

The coral reefs differ in size and maturity and there are reefs to be explored by divers whatever their expertise level. If you are a keen wreck explorer then you will be thrilled with many of the wrecks. This place boasts the largest ship that was sunk to create an artificial reef and the USS Spiegel Grove will take you days to explore.

Diving in Florida: Key West
As you go through “The Keys” you can also discover good scuba diving in areas such as Islamorada and Marathon but in reality the next region you would want to take a trip to would be Key West.

Key West provides a greater all round experience. Whilst there are plenty of dive sites there is also plenty of attractions and things to see and do. If you are on the look out for excitement in the evening as well as the day then look no further than this old colonial town. This town transforms at night. The area is well known for its striking sunsets but once the sun goes down the streets leap into life with live entertainment.

Whilst “The Keys” has long been a favorite amongst the scuba diving community there are so many other fantastic areas to go scuba diving in Florida .
Diving in Florida: Miami
Travel up the eastern coastline of Florida and not far from “The Keys” is Miami. Now Miami has long been recognized for its culture and places such as South coast with its Art Deco, shops and cafés, but it has also been developing its artificial reef program and has some of the most rare dives you are likely to encounter.

There are not many places in the world you can scuba dive Army Tanks or how about a visit to the underwater bar! After much ceremony the Jose Cuervo Bar was sunk not far from the shore and is a well-liked draw for divers, snorkelers and the local marine life.

As an alternative to “The Keys” you will locate that Miami has so much to offer with interesting and unique dive sites and of course a cultural city that has so many areas of interest to call that you will be busy both day and night .

Diving in Florida: Fort Lauderdale
If Miami is too busy for you, journey further north on the Atlantic coastline and you arrive at a fantastic region for visiting and diving in Florida, Fort Lauderdale . With its waterways full of boats and cruisers it’s easy to see why this spectacular location was given the knickname “Venice of America”.

Many locations across Florida are not recognized for their scuba diving and Fort Lauderdale is yet another place full of dive sites for both novice and experienced divers.

Diving in Florida: West Palm Beach
Similarly if you take a trip further up the shoreline, another terrific region for diving in Florida has to be West Palm Beach. This is one Florida scuba diving locale that has gone out of its way to offer and continually increase its artificial reefs program.

One great example of the artificial reef program is Governor’s River Walk Reef which was created using three ships to form the reef together with some concrete structures and is now looked at by experienced divers who survey the wrecks and structures now inhabited by some very interesting marine life. As you can imagine, West Palm Beach is delighted with the success of its artificial reef program and continues to develop terrific diving sites off the coastline of Florida.
