They sell under the brand names ProForm, Weslo, Image, NordicTrack, Reebok, and HealthRider.

    Some other companies such as Keys, Everyoung, Trimline, Schwinn, and Vision sell a higher class of treadmill but in almost every case, these treadmills sacrifice quality for the ability to fold up. For instance, the Keys folding machines are much less stable than their non-folding units while an Image folding treadmill is much more stable than anything else below $2,000. Some of these manufacturers have had to add extra support to bolster their designs just to get them to stand upright when folded, using cheap kick stand-like contraptions. It is our opinion that you should start from scratch to design a folding treadmill, not modify an existing design, as many manufacturers have.

    Many sport types are used to stimulate the person as well as teach hand-eye coordination. In the case with dyslecsic and retarded persons who do not have the correct control of their hands, horse riding is often used to stimulate their muscle tone as well as their balance.

    Climbing walls are often used for the same reasons. There was once a girl who had a lot of problems with coping in the school environment. She went to the principal day after day and even went for counseling but nothing seemed to work or help her. It was then suggested by another parent that she take part in an outdoor activity that would both get her out of the school environment and give her something challenging to do.

    In one of the rooms was a climbing wall. It is used to challenge the child to climb the wall to the best of their ability. The wall is constructed so that it has both hand and foot holds which are used in union to climb to the top. The child is fastened to a climbing harness that has safety ropes attached to it. The wall itself is at a straight up incline so you will have to make use of both your feet and hands to stay suspended and climbing up. There is a person at the bottom that will hold the ropes steady and give you direction as to how your next move should be carried out.

    This sport stimulates many things within yourself including stamina, concentration, endurance, self control as well as team work and patience. It is a very good excersice for your hands, legs and feet and keeps your mind occupied and focused at all times.

    It also gives you a great feeling when you have conquered the first step and gotten over your fear, and this feeling gets you wanting more and reaching new heights – literally. How many people have gone through life starting something and then often just giving up? This is a very bad streak in human nature but wall climbing pushes you to your limit – and beyond. When you have reached the middle of the wall and feel like giving up due to exhaustion, you can tell yourself that you are half way already. It will take as much time to get down as what it has taken you to get this far – you might as well finish now and then you will have completed the tough challenge of the climbing wall.

    This will build your confidence and make you more willing to push yourself further next time.
