To have your blog or website rise to page one in google will take backlinks. Backlinks are just links from other webpages either from your site or from someone else’s. One is called internal linking and the other is external linking. Internal linking is important and not to be over looked but most of the power will come from the external links. This is one reason to start blogging as some of the internal linking is taken care off for you.

You can offer to trade links with other website owners. This is often called reciprocal linking and while it doesn’t carry the power it once did it still helps. The links you want are one way links, in other words a link pointing to your site with no links on your site pointing to theirs.

There are many strategies you can use and many of them are free but slightly time consuming. If you have a small amount to spend there are cheap services out there that will help you do this but be careful how they do it as some are very good and others aren’t.
